Hey y’all! Welcome back to Marriage, Motherhood & PTSD—where we talk real about healing, growth, and living a life of peace on purpose.
This week’s episode is one that I know is going to speak to a lot of hearts. We’re talking about detoxing your life—from the people, habits, thoughts, and patterns that are keeping you stuck. This conversation is for the woman who is tired of carrying what no longer serves her and is ready to step into a new season of peace, purpose, and power.
What Is a Life Detox?
A life detox isn’t just about green juices or social media breaks—it’s a full-on cleansing of your inner world. That means evaluating your relationships, behaviors, environments, and belief systems to figure out what’s feeding your growth—and what’s draining it.
Toxicity doesn’t always show up loud and obvious. Sometimes it hides in the form of:
- A friendship that constantly leaves you exhausted
- A habit that numbs your pain instead of healing it
- A mindset that keeps replaying your past
- Or an environment where your peace never gets to rest
In the Detox Your Life episode, I break down how to identify those hidden toxins and give you real-life strategies for letting them go—biblically, practically, and emotionally.
Why Letting Go Is So Hard
Let’s be real… sometimes the things hurting us are the same things we run to for comfort. That’s why letting go isn’t just a decision—it’s a process. Whether it’s an unhealthy relationship, a thought pattern, or even a lifestyle that’s no longer in alignment with who God called you to be—it takes courage to release it.
We talk about:
- Why women stay in toxic relationships (even when they know they deserve more)
- The concept of arrested development—how trauma can freeze us emotionally
- Triggers, traps, and bait the enemy uses to keep you cycling back to dysfunction
“You can’t heal in the same environment that broke you—unless you change how you function inside of it.”
Your Brain on Dopamine & Digital Detox
We also get into the science of dopamine—how it affects our cravings, behaviors, and even our emotional attachment to things that hurt us. Spoiler alert: your phone might be draining your soul more than you think.
I share tips for:
- Breaking dopamine loops
- Taking a social media detox and reclaiming your attention
- Learning to sit with discomfort without numbing it
Decluttering the Soul: A Spiritual + Emotional Housecleaning
One of my favorite segments of this episode is about decluttering—body, mind, and soul. It’s not just about cleaning your space… it’s about clearing the spiritual clutter that’s keeping you from hearing God clearly and seeing yourself accurately.
Here’s what you’ll reflect on:
- What’s draining you?
- What are you still “subscribed” to emotionally?
- Where are you stuck—and what truth do you need to move forward?
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23
How to Detox When You Can’t Leave
Let’s talk about the hard stuff: what do you do when the environment is toxic… but you can’t leave it right now? Whether it’s a job, a marriage, or a family situation—you’ll learn:
- How to set boundaries
- How to create internal peace in external chaos
- Why you don’t have to be defined by your surroundings
Break Up with the Old You
We close out the episode with a challenge: break up with the people, places, and patterns that are stealing your joy and sabotaging your growth.
Then we go into:
- How to refill what you let go of
- How to listen to your body and honor your gut instincts
- What it means to truly walk in freedom and not just survive
